The story centers on Charlie, a morbidly obese and isolated English professor who teaches online courses with his webcam turned off, too self-conscious to reveal his appearance. He is cared for by Liz, his nurse and only friend, who urges him to seek medical attention for his critical health condition, but Charlie refuses, fearing the financial burden. A young missionary named Thomas visits him, claiming to offer salvation. Charlie often orders pizza, and his delivery driver, Dan, follows a routine where they never interact directly. Despite his struggles, Charlie hopes to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter.
