Description: Evan Trautwig, a dedicated community volunteer and senior manager at Costco in Glenview, Ohio, faces a life-altering event when the store’s night security guard is brutally murdered. With the local police offering no leads or interest in solving the case, Evan takes matters into his own hands by forming a neighborhood watch group. Despite his efforts, he only manages to recruit three individuals: Bob, an overprotective construction worker and father; Franklin, a high school dropout with dreams of becoming a police officer; and Jamarcus, a recent divorcé.
The group initially uses their patrols as an excuse to drink and relax, frustrating Evan. However, during one of their outings, they accidentally hit something and discover a mysterious metallic orb, a highly destructive weapon they soon realize is of alien origin. As more townspeople are mysteriously killed, the group encounters an alien that attacks them. Evan temporarily defeats the creature using a lawn gnome, and they take it to Bob’s house. However, the alien regains consciousness, steals the metallic orb, and warns them that its kind has already infiltrated the town. The group theorizes that the aliens are disguising themselves by stealing their victims’ skin.
Bob confides in Evan about his distrust of his daughter Chelsea’s boyfriend, Jason, while Evan reveals his own struggles with infertility and his fear that it might drive his wife Abby away. Suspicious of a neighbor’s odd behavior, Evan believes he might be an alien. As the team investigates the neighbor’s house, Bob learns that Chelsea is at an unsupervised party with Jason. Ignoring Evan’s orders, Bob and Franklin rush to the party to intervene.
