Description: “The War with Grandpa” is a 2020 family comedy film. The story begins with Ed Marino, a recently widowed man, unintentionally causing a scene at a grocery store due to difficulties with self-checkouts. His daughter, Sally Marino-Decker, convinces him to move in with her family. Reluctant to leave his house, which he built himself, Ed agrees and takes over his grandson Peter’s bedroom, forcing Peter to move to the attic.
Peter, unhappy with the arrangement, confides in his friends and decides to declare war on his grandfather. Ed accepts the challenge, setting rules that neither can damage others’ belongings or involve the rest of the family. The two engage in a series of pranks, such as Peter replacing Ed’s shaving cream with quick-drying foam and Ed disassembling Peter’s furniture.
As the war unfolds, Ed seeks advice from his friends and begins to bond with his granddaughters and son-in-law. He also adapts to modern technology, like self-checkouts and apps. The film humorously explores family dynamics and intergenerational relationships.
