StoryLine:
In Rome, Dodo, a university lecturer, teaches a class in French literature. He shares an apartment with his bedridden father, Alberto, whose nurse, Fausta, attends to both his medical and sexual needs. Dodo, a reserved man, is unresponsive to Fausta’s provocative behavior and is disturbed by his father’s unrestrained sexuality. His emotional struggles stem from his deep attachment to his deceased mother, who had to endure her husband’s infidelities. However, Dodo’s primary issue is the disappearance of his wife, Silvia, a vibrant and beautiful woman who left him for another man, disrupting his quiet and studious life.
One day after class, an African student named Pascasie invites Dodo to her apartment, where she undresses and asks him to photograph her. When her flatmate returns, the two women begin an intimate encounter, leaving Dodo, ever the observer, to depart without participating. As time passes, he increasingly fantasizes about Silvia and imagines the intimate lives of his parents. One night, a mysterious woman appears in his father’s bedroom, and Fausta suggests it might have been Silvia, who still has a key to the apartment. Shortly after, Silvia unexpectedly expresses her desire to return to Dodo.
