Description: The Visit (2015) is a thrilling film that follows the story of two siblings from Philadelphia, 15-year-old Becca and 14-year-old Tyler. They prepare for a five-day visit to their grandparents’ home while their divorced mother, Loretta, goes on a cruise with her boyfriend. Loretta explains that she hasn’t spoken to her parents for 15 years due to their disapproval of her marriage to her high school teacher. Having never met their grandparents, Becca and Tyler decide to document their visit using a camcorder.
Upon arriving at the train station, Becca and Tyler meet their grandparents, known as “Nana” and “Pop Pop.” They are taken to their grandparents’ isolated farmhouse, where they are given strict rules: they must never enter the basement due to mold, and they must stay in their rooms after 9:30 PM each night. Initially, everything seems fine, but the grandparents’ behavior soon grows strange. On the first night, Becca sneaks downstairs after curfew and witnesses Nana vomiting violently. The next day, Nana frightens the children during a game of hide-and-seek, while Tyler discovers a pile of soiled diapers in the shed. Later, Pop Pop attacks a stranger in town, accusing him of following them. Despite these odd incidents, the grandparents dismiss their actions as harmless.
As the bizarre events escalate, Becca and Tyler’s documentary shifts from a simple recording to an investigation. A woman who had been helped by Nana and Pop Pop visits with a blueberry cobbler to thank them but mysteriously disappears after a confrontation. Worried, Becca researches her grandparents’ behavior online and, after speaking with Loretta, concludes that it might be typical for elderly individuals. However, the mystery deepens as the siblings uncover more unsettling truths during their stay.
