Description: In 1930, during Prohibition, the infamous gangster Al Capone dominates Chicago by supplying illegal alcohol. Eliot Ness, a Bureau of Prohibition agent, is assigned to stop Capone’s operations. However, his first raid fails due to corrupt officers warning Capone. Ness then meets Jimmy Malone, an honest Irish-American officer who agrees to help. Malone suggests recruiting a rookie officer untouched by corruption, leading them to George Stone, an Italian-American trainee known for his integrity and sharpshooting skills. Joined by Oscar Wallace, an accountant from Washington, D.C., the team successfully raids a Capone liquor depot, earning the nickname “The Untouchables” from the press. Capone retaliates by killing the depot’s boss as a warning.
Wallace discovers Capone has not filed income tax returns for years and proposes building a tax evasion case. When Ness refuses a bribe to drop the investigation, Capone’s enforcer, Frank Nitti, threatens Ness’s family, forcing him to move them to safety. During a raid on the Canadian border, the team seizes a liquor shipment, kills several gangsters, and captures George, a Capone bookkeeper who agrees to cooperate. However, Nitti later murders Wallace and George.
Ness confronts Capone after the killings but is advised by Malone to focus on the tax case. Malone uncovers that police chief Mike Dorsett betrayed the team and forces him to reveal the location of Capone’s head bookkeeper, Walter Payne. That night, Capone’s men ambush Malone, fatally wounding him. Before dying, Malone tells Ness and Stone which train Payne will take, enabling them to capture Payne and ultimately bring Capone to justice.
