**Storyline:**
In Brooklyn, brothers Mario and Luigi are trying to establish their new plumbing business but face challenges. Mario left his stable job under the antagonistic Spike, which displeased their father. While repairing a major manhole leak, they are suddenly pulled into a Warp Pipe and separated.
Mario lands in the Mushroom Kingdom, ruled by Princess Peach, while Luigi ends up in the Dark Lands, controlled by the Koopa king Bowser. Bowser is determined to marry Princess Peach and threatens to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom using the powerful Super Star if she refuses. To make matters worse, Bowser captures Luigi to manipulate Mario, whom he sees as a rival for Peach’s affection.
Princess Peach decides to team up with Mario to defend against Bowser’s plans. She seeks the help of the Jungle Kingdom, but its king, Cranky Kong, agrees only if Mario defeats his son, Donkey Kong, in combat. Despite initial struggles, Mario emerges victorious after acquiring a Cat Suit.
With the Kongs and Toad joining their cause, Mario and Peach head toward Bowser’s castle. However, their journey is interrupted when Bowser’s army ambushes them on Rainbow Road. During the attack, a Koopa General destroys part of the road, causing Mario and Donkey Kong to fall into the ocean, where they are swallowed by a Maw-Ray. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is captured by Bowser’s forces.
