Description: The Stylist is a 2020 American horror drama film directed, co-written, and produced by Jill Gevargizian. It is based on Gevargizian’s short film of the same title and features actors Najarra Townsend and Brea Grant. The movie made its debut at the 2020 Fantastic Fest.
The story follows Claire, a home-based hairdresser who listens to her clients’ fascinating stories while styling their hair. Despite her seemingly ordinary job, Claire leads a monotonous and isolated life, feeling unnoticed by those around her. One of her regular clients, Olivia, requests a haircut for her wedding, which becomes a turning point in Claire’s life. Overwhelmed by sadness and dissatisfaction, Claire decides to take drastic measures to change her circumstances. She begins to take the lives of her clients, adopting their lifestyles by using their possessions, voices, and even their hair to decorate her cellar. As the killings continue, Claire’s actions grow increasingly chilling and obsessive.
