Description: The 1994 film *The Specialist* follows the story of Captain Ray Quick (Stallone) and Colonel Ned Trent (Woods), who are explosive experts working for the CIA. During a mission in 1984, they are tasked with blowing up a car transporting a South American drug dealer. However, when the target appears, a young girl is also inside the vehicle. Ray insists on aborting the mission, but Ned proceeds, resulting in the deaths of both the dealer and the child. Enraged by the girl’s death, Ray attacks Ned and leaves the CIA.
Years later, Ray lives in Miami, working as a freelance hitman. He leads a solitary life with his cat, Timer, and takes on jobs through an internet bulletin board. Ray specializes in precision explosions, ensuring only the intended targets are harmed.
He encounters May Munro (Stone), who seeks his help to avenge her parents’ murder by Tomas Leon (Roberts) and his gang. Intrigued by her story and persistence, Ray agrees to assist her, even as May infiltrates Tomas’ world under the alias Adrian Hastings.
Meanwhile, Ned now works for Joe Leon (Steiger), Tomas’ father and the leader of their crime syndicate. As Ray begins targeting the gang’s lower-level members, Ned is brought in to counter him. It is eventually revealed that May has been coerced into a partnership with Ned, who aims to lure Ray out of hiding for revenge, following their fallout in South America.
