Description: “The Secret Life of Pets” is a 2016 animated film that follows the adventures of Max, a Jack Russell Terrier who lives with his owner Katie in a New York apartment. Max spends his days socializing with his pet neighbors, including Chloe the tabby cat, Mel the pug, Buddy the dachshund, and Sweet Pea the budgerigar. However, his routine is disrupted when Katie adopts a large mongrel named Duke, sparking jealousy in Max.
After a heated argument, Duke tries to abandon Max in an alley, but the two dogs are attacked by a group of street cats led by Ozone, a Sphynx cat. The cats remove their collars, leaving Max and Duke vulnerable to being captured by Animal Control. Duke, fearing he’ll be euthanized if returned to the pound, decides to find a way out. Meanwhile, Gidget, a white Pomeranian who adores Max, discovers he’s missing and sets out to rescue him.
Max and Duke eventually encounter Snowball, a white rabbit who leads a gang of abandoned pets known as “the Flushed Pets.” The group despises humans for mistreating them. Pretending to share their hatred, Max and Duke are invited to join the gang, but their cover is blown when Snowball discovers they’re domesticated. Forced to flee, Max and Duke board a ferry to Brooklyn, accidentally killing a viper in the process. Enraged, Snowball vows revenge and pursues them.
Gidget, determined to save Max, recruits a hawk named Tiberius and other neighborhood pets to help in the search. Along the way, they meet Pops, an elderly Basset Hound who assists them in locating Max. Meanwhile, Max and Duke raid a sausage factory for food. Eventually, Gidget’s team faces off against Snowball, who captures one of their members and swears to eliminate them all.
The story unfolds as Max and his friends navigate challenges, form unlikely alliances, and work together to find their way back home. The film explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and the bond between pets and their owners.
