Description: “The Santa Clause” is a 1994 holiday film that follows the story of Scott Calvin, a successful toy salesman, as he unexpectedly becomes Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, Scott spends time with his son Charlie, hoping to preserve Charlie’s belief in Santa, even though Scott himself doesn’t believe. Scott’s ex-wife Laura and her husband, Dr. Neil Miller, think Charlie should stop believing in Santa after a classmate claims he isn’t real.
That evening, Scott and Charlie hear a noise on the roof and find a man dressed as Santa, who accidentally falls and disappears, leaving behind his suit and a business card. The card instructs Scott to put on the suit, which he does, and the reindeer guide him to deliver gifts worldwide. At the North Pole, Bernard, the head elf, explains that by wearing the suit, Scott has triggered “The Santa Clause,” a legal agreement binding him to take on Santa’s role. Scott is given eleven months to prepare before returning to the North Pole.
Initially skeptical, Scott awakens in his bed, convinced it was a dream, but soon realizes it wasn’t when he finds himself wearing the pajamas from the North Pole. Over the next year, Scott undergoes physical changes, such as gaining weight, growing a thick beard, and his hair turning white, despite his efforts to reverse these transformations. When Charlie tells his classmates that Scott is Santa, Scott faces pressure to dismiss the claim but instead asks Charlie to keep it a secret.
The film blends humor and heartwarming moments as Scott navigates his new responsibilities and the impact on his life and family.
