**Storyline:**
Matt and Kate, a young couple, move to Westminster, Maryland, after buying a new home. During renovations, they uncover a hidden room and learn about a murder that took place on the property many years ago.
That same evening, Matt discovers that the killer, known as “John Doe,” is still alive and confined to a psychiatric hospital. He also accidentally finds out that the hidden room has the ability to grant any wish. Excited by this revelation, he shares the news with Kate, and they both quit their jobs, relying on the room to fulfill all their desires.
However, Kate soon falls into depression, realizing that the things they wish for hold no real meaning. To lift her spirits, Matt suggests trying for a baby. Kate becomes angry, reminding him of her previous miscarriages and the emotional pain they caused.
Despite her reluctance, Kate uses the room to create a baby, Shane. Overwhelmed by their love for the child, they decide not to undo the wish. Concerned about the consequences, Matt visits John Doe at the hospital, where he is warned to leave the house and forget about the room.
Meanwhile, Matt learns that objects and people created by the room disintegrate into dust when taken outside the house. This becomes evident when Kate takes Shane outdoors, and the baby rapidly ages into a child.
As time passes, their marriage begins to crumble. Kate struggles to raise Shane, while Matt becomes distant. Shane grows frustrated because he is confined to the house, as Kate insists that germs are outside. Eventually, Shane discovers the room and creates an outdoor space within it, leading to conflict between his parents.
John Doe contacts Matt again, revealing that he himself was a child created by the room. He explains that he survived because his parents died, and if Kate were to die, Shane would continue to live. The situation leaves Matt and Kate grappling with the consequences of their choices and the mysterious power of the room.
