Description: In the 2020 film *The Roads Not Taken*, Leo is shown lying in bed, unaware of the ringing phone and buzzing doorbell. His daughter, Molly, arrives and questions why he didn’t answer. Leo’s caretaker, Xenia, begins vacuuming as he struggles with dementia, making it difficult for him to focus on preparing for his medical appointments. Leo and Molly eventually leave the apartment and take a taxi to the dentist. However, Leo fails to follow the dentist’s instructions and urinates himself. After changing clothes, they get into another taxi, but Leo becomes confused, stumbles out, and hits his head. The taxi driver calls an ambulance, and Leo is taken to the emergency room. Molly’s mother, Rita, arrives and criticizes her ex-husband’s behavior, leading to an argument between Molly, Rita, and the attending doctor. Meanwhile, Leo fixates on his deceased dog, Néstor.
After being discharged, Molly takes Leo to Costco, where he disappears while she’s on an important phone call with her boss. She later finds him crying while clutching a dog he believes is Néstor. A woman accuses Leo of attempting to steal her dog and makes racially charged insults as security tackles him. The guards release Leo after Molly explains his condition. Next, Molly takes Leo to the optometrist, where he again struggles to follow instructions. Outside, Molly receives a call from her boss informing her that her project has been reassigned. She confesses to her father that she can no longer pretend everything is fine. Later that night, Leo leaves his apartment and wanders the streets barefoot as Molly desperately searches for him. He is eventually found and assisted by two taxi drivers.
