Description: Ivan Kragoff, born in Leningrad during the Soviet Union era, was a scientist determined to beat the United States in the race to the Moon and claim it for the Communist empire. Before becoming known as the Red Ghost, he assembled a team of three specially trained primates: Mikhlo the gorilla, Igor the baboon, and Peotr the orangutan. Each primate underwent rigorous training programs designed by Kragoff himself. He then launched his lunar mission on behalf of the USSR. Meanwhile, the Fantastic Four set off on their own journey to the Moon.
Kragoff, familiar with the Fantastic Four’s history, constructed his rocket to expose himself and his crew to cosmic rays, hoping to gain superpowers. His plan succeeded: Kragoff gained the ability to become invisible and intangible like a ghost, while Mikhlo acquired superhuman strength and durability. Igor developed the power to shapeshift, and Peotr could attract or repel objects at will.
The Red Ghost, along with his team of Super-Apes, soon clashed with the Fantastic Four. During their first encounter, they faced the Thing and briefly encountered Uatu the Watcher, who proposed a battle for dominance over the Moon. The Red Ghost initially overpowered the Fantastic Four and kidnapped the Invisible Girl. However, the tables turned when his apes rebelled after the Invisible Girl deactivated a force field, allowing them access to food Kragoff had withheld from them. Mikhlo broke down a metal door, freeing the Invisible Girl. Kragoff attempted to exploit Uatu’s technology but failed to understand it and was ejected from the area. The Fantastic Four then used a paralyzing ray to subdue him.
Later, the Red Ghost and his Super-Apes fought the Fantastic Four again on the Moon. This time, Kragoff was accidentally teleported back to Earth by the Watcher’s matter transporter. As a result, he was expelled from the Communist Party, and his Super-Apes were confiscated.
