Description: James Clayton, a brilliant programmer at MIT, works with his peers to develop Spartacus, a surveillance program capable of controlling any computer’s audiovisual hardware through the internet. Their project gains significant attention at a campus fair. Later, James is approached by Walter Burke, who claims to have known James’ late father and suggests he join the Central Intelligence Agency. Initially hesitant, James reconsiders, seeing it as an opportunity to uncover the truth behind his father’s mysterious death in a plane crash in Peru.
After passing initial screenings, James is sent to The Farm in Virginia for CIA training. There, he forms a rivalry with Zack and develops feelings for fellow recruit Layla Moore. During a training exercise, James and Layla are kidnapped and subjected to intense psychological and physical interrogation. Their captors demand information about The Farm and its instructors. After days of resistance, James breaks under pressure, revealing Burke’s name. It is then revealed that the entire ordeal was a staged exercise observed by the class, and James fails by breaking. He is dismissed from the CIA.
Later, Burke finds James and reveals that his dismissal was a cover story. James has been selected as a non-official cover operative, or “NOC,” marking the beginning of a deeper, more covert mission.
