Zarina, a highly intelligent and curious pixie dust-keeper fairy, is fascinated by the magic of pixie dust and is eager to uncover its full potential. She secretly experiments with blue pixie dust, creating various colors. However, when she develops pink pixie dust, chaos ensues, leading to an accident in Pixie Hollow. Her supervisor, Fairy Gary, bans her from working with pixie dust. Heartbroken, Zarina leaves Pixie Hollow with her experiments.
One year later, during the Four Seasons Festival in Pixie Hollow, Tinker Bell and her friends spot Zarina using pink pixie dust to summon poppies, which put everyone to sleep except Tink and her friends. Zarina steals the blue pixie dust, essential for creating the yellow dust that allows fairies to fly. Determined to recover it, Tink and her friends pursue Zarina.
They track her to the coast, where they discover she has become the captain of a pirate crew, including a young James Hook. The fairies briefly retrieve the blue dust, but Zarina regains it by throwing multi-colored pixie dust at them, which swaps their talents. Tinker Bell becomes a water fairy, Silvermist gains speed, Fawn controls light, Iridessa tends gardens, Rosetta communicates with animals, and Vidia becomes a tinker fairy, much to her dismay.
