Description: The film “The Perfect Score” (2004) follows high school student Kyle, portrayed by Chris Evans, who aims to achieve a high SAT score to secure admission into Cornell University’s architecture program. Constantly comparing himself to his older brother, Larry, who now lives above their parents’ garage, Kyle feels the pressure to succeed. His best friend, Matty, played by Bryan Greenberg, also seeks a high score to attend the same college as his girlfriend, despite being an underachiever with a history of low PSAT scores. Both believe the SAT is an obstacle to their future success.
The duo discovers that Francesca Curtis, played by Scarlett Johansson, has a father who owns the building housing the regional ETS office, where the SAT answers are stored. Initially hesitant, Francesca eventually agrees to help, finding the idea intriguing. Meanwhile, Kyle develops feelings for Anna Ross, the school’s second-highest-ranked student, portrayed by Erika Christensen, and confides in her about their plan. Anna, who previously performed poorly on the SAT, needs a strong score to gain admission to Brown University. Matty, however, is unhappy about Anna’s involvement and inadvertently reveals the plan to Roy, a stoner played by Leonardo Nam, who then joins the scheme. Anna also informs Desmond Rhodes, the school’s basketball star portrayed by Darius Miles, who needs a score of at least 900 to secure a spot on the St. John’s University basketball team.
Their first attempt to break into the ETS office fails, but they devise a new strategy. On the night before the exam, Francesca arranges for Kyle and Matty to have a meeting on the top floor of the building, staying after closing. The others keep watch outside, monitoring the night guard while Kyle, Matty, and Francesca attempt to steal the answers.
