Description: “The Patriot 2000” is a gripping historical drama set during the American Revolutionary War in 1776. The film follows Captain Benjamin Martin, a widowed father of seven and a veteran of the French and Indian War. Reluctant to support the war effort, Benjamin abstains from voting on a levy for the Continental Army. However, his eldest son, Gabriel, defies his wishes and joins the fight.
Two years later, after the fall of Charleston, Gabriel returns home wounded, only to be captured by British Dragoons led by Colonel William Tavington. When Benjamin’s second son, Thomas, attempts to rescue Gabriel, he is fatally shot by Tavington. The British burn the Martin family home and execute the wounded American soldiers. Fueled by vengeance, Benjamin and his sons ambush the British unit, freeing Gabriel and earning Benjamin the nickname “the Ghost.”
Gabriel rejoins the Continental Army, and Benjamin soon follows, leaving his younger children in the care of his sister-in-law, Charlotte. Along the way, they witness the disastrous defeat of the southern Continental Army under General Horatio Gates. Recognizing the flaws in their strategy, Benjamin partners with Colonel Harry Burwell, his former commanding officer, to lead a local militia.
Tasked with employing guerrilla tactics to stall Lord Cornwallis’s forces, Benjamin trains the militia with the help of French Major Jean Villeneuve. The film is a powerful tale of resilience, sacrifice, and the fight for freedom during a pivotal moment in American history.”
