Description: “The Noel Diary,” released in 2022, is based on Richard Paul Evans’ novel. The film centers on Jacob Turner (Justin Hartley), a successful author who returns to his hometown after learning of his mother’s death from her lawyer. Having been distant from his mother for years, Jacob visits his childhood home, only to discover she had become a hoarder, leaving him with the task of clearing out her belongings.
During this process, Jacob encounters Rachel (Barrett Doss), a mysterious woman observing his house from across the street. Introducing herself as the daughter of a nanny who once worked for Jacob’s family, Rachel explains she’s searching for her estranged mother. As the two forge an unexpected friendship, Jacob offers to help her in her quest, which also provides him an opportunity to mend his own fractured relationship with his father.
As Jacob and Rachel grow closer, their emotional bond deepens, complicating matters since Rachel is already engaged. The story explores whether their connection can lead to a happy ending.
Set during the Christmas season, the film embraces the familiar tropes of holiday romances, offering a heartwarming yet predictable tale of love and reconciliation. While “The Noel Diary” doesn’t break new ground in the genre, it delivers the comforting and sentimental moments audiences often crave during the festive season.
