Description: Stênio, a morgue worker, possesses the unique ability to communicate with the deceased bodies brought to him each night. This gift, however, turns into a curse as he inadvertently brings misfortune upon himself with the secrets he uncovers. “Morto Não Fala,” also known as “The Nightshifter,” is a 2018 Brazilian horror film that I stumbled upon by chance. As a lifelong horror enthusiast, I couldn’t resist watching it.
The film proved to be a pleasant surprise, offering an intriguing and compelling narrative that captured my attention early on. While the storyline follows familiar horror tropes, it remains engaging and entertaining throughout. The performances were solid, and I particularly enjoyed seeing a cast of unfamiliar faces, which added to the experience.
Director Dennison Ramalho excels at creating a tense atmosphere, gradually drawing the audience into the story. Although the movie isn’t overwhelmingly scary, it effectively builds suspense and keeps viewers invested.
Overall, “The Nightshifter” is a worthwhile watch, especially for fans of the horror genre. If you’re open to non-English language films, I highly recommend giving it a chance—it’s both intriguing and entertaining.
