Description: Lara Brennan is wrongfully convicted of murdering her boss and receives a life sentence. Her young son Luke stops acknowledging her during prison visits. After her appeal fails, her lawyer refuses to pursue further action. In despair, Lara attempts suicide, prompting her husband, John, to become determined to break her out of prison.
John seeks advice from Damon Pennington, a former inmate and author of a book on prison escapes. Damon challenges John by asking if he can be the kind of person who would harm others if it means securing his wife’s freedom. Inspired, John meticulously plans the escape, studying prison routines, acquiring a handgun, and attempting to secure fake IDs. He sells his belongings to fund the operation but faces setbacks, including nearly getting caught while testing a bump key in Lara’s prison.
When John learns that Lara will be transferred to a distant prison in three days, he is forced to accelerate his plans. Unable to sell his house in time, he considers robbing a bank but hesitates at the last moment. Desperate to save his wife, who is deteriorating mentally, John robs a meth lab after tailing a local drug dealer. A violent confrontation ensues, resulting in the deaths of both the dealer and the manufacturer.
John then executes his escape plan by falsifying Lara’s medical records to indicate a life-threatening condition, securing her transfer to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, police investigating the drug lab incident trace John’s car and discover his abandoned home, realizing his intentions to free his wife. The stakes rise as John races against time to reunite his family.
