Description: “The Mountain II” is a 2016 film that follows the story of Ceyda, a journalist kidnapped by ISIS while reporting on the Yezidi people and their struggles. A Turkish special forces team, led by Commander Veysel, embarks on a mission to rescue her. The narrative unfolds through the perspective of Oğuz, whose flashbacks reveal the personal lives and motivations of the team members. Oğuz and his friend Bekir were once saved by special forces commandos, which inspired them to join the unit. The team successfully rescues Ceyda just moments before her execution and begins their journey to a landing zone for evacuation. Along the way, they encounter and liberate a young girl and a woman from ISIS terrorists. Upon reaching a village near the landing zone, they discover it will soon be attacked by a large ISIS battalion. Despite the opportunity to evacuate, Commander Veysel and his team choose to stay and defend the villagers. Hoisting the Turkish flag as a symbol of resistance, they use their skills to fight off the overwhelming enemy force. The battle, however, comes at a heavy cost, resulting in the deaths of Commander Veysel and two other team members. Before his death, Veysel ensures the evacuation of the villagers, leaving a lasting impact on those he protected.
