Description: A wealthy property tycoon named Liu Xuan buys the Green Gulf, a coastal wildlife reserve, for a land reclamation project. To clear the area, he uses sonar technology, unaware that the Green Gulf is home to merpeople. The sonar and pollution have caused many of them to die or fall ill. The surviving merfolk, living in an abandoned shipwreck, plan to assassinate Xuan for his actions.
They send Shan, a young mermaid trained to blend in with humans, to seduce and kill Xuan. At a lavish party celebrating his success, Shan pretends to be a dancer and asks him to call her. Xuan, thinking she is an escort, calls her to make his business partner, Ruolan, jealous. Shan’s attempts to kill Xuan fail, and he decides to take her home. Along the way, she shows him a funfair where she works, revealing that life is about more than just money.
Spending the day together, they develop feelings for each other. The next day, Xuan proposes to Shan, admitting he feels she is the one for him. Shan, conflicted, rejects him and confesses her mission to kill him. Xuan kisses her, but Ruolan interrupts. Shan flees, and Xuan tries to follow but is stopped by Ruolan. Enraged, Xuan demands an end to their business deal.
