Description: Thomas finds himself in a metal elevator that transports him to a place called the Glade. He has no recollection of who he is or how he arrived there. In the Glade, he learns that it is governed by two boys: Alby, the leader, and Newt, his second-in-command. They maintain order by enforcing straightforward yet effective rules. Every week, the elevator delivers supplies like food, tools, medicine, and occasionally weapons. Additionally, once a month, a new boy is sent up in the elevator, each with no memory beyond their first name.
The Glade is enclosed by massive concrete walls, four miles high, with openings that close every night like doors. Beyond the walls lies the Maze, a constantly shifting labyrinth of towering concrete walls covered in ivy. The Maze is inhabited by deadly creatures known as Grievers, described as monstrous hybrids of metal and flesh. The inhabitants of the Glade, called Gladers, are focused on survival and solving the Maze. They assign “runners” to navigate the Maze, mapping its changes and searching for a way to escape.
Shortly after Thomas arrives, a girl named Teresa is sent to the Glade via the elevator, accompanied by a note stating, “She’s the last one. Ever.” Teresa falls into a coma, but when Thomas visits her, he recognizes her and recalls her name through telepathic communication. She later wakes up and reveals that they knew each other before being sent to the Glade and can communicate telepathically.
Meanwhile, Minho, the leader of the runners, and Alby venture into the Maze to investigate what they believe is a dead Griever.
