Description: Stanley Ipkiss, a shy and insecure bank clerk in Edge City, feels constantly mocked by everyone except his co-worker and best friend, Charlie Schumaker. His life takes a dramatic turn when he discovers a mysterious wooden mask by the harbor. Upon wearing it, Stanley transforms into a green-faced, mischievous character called “The Mask,” who can alter reality in cartoonish ways.
Meanwhile, gangster Dorian Tyrell, owner of the Coco Bongo nightclub, plans to overthrow his boss, Niko. He sends his girlfriend, the glamorous singer Tina Carlyle, to scout the bank for a robbery. Stanley is instantly captivated by Tina, and she appears to return his interest. However, feeling disheartened after his car breaks down, Stanley finds the mask and puts it on, unleashing his newfound confidence.
As The Mask, Stanley embarks on a comedic spree, humiliating those who have wronged him, including his landlady and the mechanics who gave him the faulty car. The next day, detective Lieutenant Mitch Kellaway and reporter Peggy Brandt begin investigating The Mask’s activities. Desperate to see Tina perform, Stanley uses the mask again to rob the bank, unintentionally thwarting Tyrell’s robbery plans.
At the Coco Bongo, Stanley’s infatuation with Tina reaches a peak, leading to a series of exaggerated, cartoon-like expressions and a lively dance sequence that ends with a kiss. His chaotic actions, however, draw the attention of both law enforcement and Tyrell, setting the stage for further mayhem.
