Description: Cha Tae-sik, a reserved man managing a pawnshop, finds his solitary life disrupted when he befriends a young girl named So-mi, who lives nearby. So-mi’s mother, Hyo-jeong, is a troubled go-go dancer and heroin addict. In a desperate move, Hyo-jeong steals a substantial amount of heroin from the bar where she works, hides it in a camera bag, and pawns it to Tae-sik for safekeeping. This act draws the attention of a ruthless crime boss, Oh Myung-gyu, who sends his henchmen, brothers Man-seok and Jong-seok, to recover the stolen drugs. Jong-seok captures Hyo-jeong, tortures her in front of So-mi, and forces her to reveal the drugs’ location.
When Jong-seok’s associates confront Tae-sik, they are swiftly overpowered. Realizing Tae-sik cares deeply for So-mi, Jong-seok kidnaps her, demanding that Tae-sik deliver the drugs to Myung-gyu. Man-seok alerts the police, who raid Myung-gyu’s property. Myung-gyu escapes, while Tae-sik is arrested and discovers Hyo-jeong’s lifeless body, her organs harvested, in the car he used for the delivery.
Escaping police custody with ease, Tae-sik’s combat skills shock the authorities. Further investigation reveals he was once a highly decorated covert operative for South Korean Army Intelligence, who retired after being wounded and losing his pregnant wife to an assassin.
Using clues from a burner phone provided by Jong-seok, Tae-sik tracks down one of the henchmen, Du-chi, at a nightclub. A confrontation erupts, leading to a shootout with another assailant, Ramrowan, who accidentally kills Du-chi. Tae-sik is severely wounded but manages to survive with the help of a former partner, who performs emergency surgery. After recovering, Tae-sik arms himself and returns to the city, determined to rescue So-mi and seek justice.
