Description: The Loft, released in 2014, is a gripping thriller that delves into mystery and betrayal. The story revolves around the murder of Sarah Deakins, portrayed by Isabel Lucas. Sarah becomes romantically involved with Vincent after meeting him at a bar, along with his friends Luke and Marty. Vincent and Luke are both drawn to her, but Sarah chooses Vincent, leading to a passionate affair.
At a party, Sarah threatens to expose their relationship to Vincent’s wife, but Luke convinces her otherwise. Later, Sarah appears to attempt suicide in the loft by taking pills with champagne. Luke discovers her and alerts Chris, Marty, and Philip, presenting them with a note addressed to Vincent that reads, “See you in the next life.” Chris takes the note as evidence.
The group’s motivations to frame Vincent stem from Luke’s revelations. He shows them DVDs exposing Vincent’s affairs with Marty’s wife, Mimi; Chris’s prostitute, Ann; and Zoe, Philip and Chris’s younger sister. Three of the men leave to establish alibis, while Philip remains to stage the scene. He uses cocaine to remain alert, cuts Sarah’s wrists, and uses her blood to write a Latin phrase resembling her suicide note. He then cuffs her right hand to the bed.
As the movie progresses, the five men debate how to handle the body. They drug Vincent, strip him, and cuff him to Sarah’s body on the bed. Before losing consciousness, Vincent learns of Sarah’s supposed suicide and the note’s contents. When questioned by the police, Vincent claims he was framed, but they dismiss his story as only his and Sarah’s fingerprints are found at the scene.
