Description: David is taken to a hotel after his wife leaves him for another man. The hotel manager explains that single people have 45 days to find a partner; otherwise, they will be turned into an animal of their choice. David decides that if he fails, he wants to become a lobster. Accompanied by his brother, who is now a dog, David meets Robert, who has a lisp, and John, who walks with a limp. The guests are obsessed with finding partners who share superficial traits, believing these similarities ensure compatibility. The hotel enforces strict rules, such as banning masturbation while requiring sexual stimulation by the maid. Guests attend dances and watch propaganda praising the benefits of relationships. Residents can extend their stay by capturing and tranquilizing loners living in the forest. During a hunt, a woman who loves biscuits offers David sexual favors, which he refuses. She reveals that if she fails to find a mate, she will jump from the hotel window.
John wins the affection of a woman who suffers from frequent nosebleeds by injuring himself to mimic her condition. They move to the couples’ section for a trial partnership. David decides to pursue a woman known for her cruelty, who has captured more loners than anyone else. David pretends to enjoy her harsh behavior to win her over. She tests him by pretending to choke on an olive, and when he doesn’t help, she decides they are compatible. The couple moves to the couples’ suite, but David later discovers she has killed his brother.
