Description: The Lego Batman Movie, released in 2017, follows the adventures of Batman in the Lego DC superhero universe as he continues to protect Gotham City from crime. During his latest mission to stop the Joker and other supervillains from destroying the city, Batman unintentionally hurts Joker’s feelings by claiming he isn’t as significant in his life as the Joker believes. This drives Joker to seek ultimate revenge.
The next day, Bruce Wayne attends Gotham’s winter gala, which celebrates the retirement of Commissioner Gordon and the appointment of his daughter Barbara as the new police commissioner. Bruce is upset by Barbara’s plans to restructure the police to function independently of Batman. Joker disrupts the event with Gotham’s villains, who surrender except for Harley Quinn, who mysteriously disappears.
Realizing Joker’s intentions, Batman decides to steal Superman’s Phantom Zone projector—a device capable of banishing anyone to the Phantom Zone, home to the most dangerous villains in the Lego multiverse. However, Alfred intervenes and advises Batman to care for Dick Grayson, whom he unknowingly adopted as his son during the gala. Reluctantly agreeing, Batman mentors Dick as Robin. Together, they retrieve the projector from the Fortress of Solitude and infiltrate Arkham Asylum to send Joker to the Phantom Zone. Suspicious of Joker’s motives, Barbara arrests Batman and Robin.
While the projector is seized as evidence, Harley Quinn steals it back as part of Joker’s plan, helping him escape and return to Gotham with a team of villains recruited from the Phantom Zone. These include General Zod, King Kong, the Gremlins, the Wicked Witch of the West and her Flying Monkeys, skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts, and dinosaurs from Jurassic Park.
