Making bank robberies great again.|Nov. 04, 2022|90 Min.
Genre: Crime;Thriller
Description: “The Last Heist” follows Mick (Perry Benson), who advises his son, Slips (Michael Head), not to follow in his criminal footsteps, claiming he has left an “insurance policy” to prevent it. The story then shifts to Mick’s funeral, where the nature of this policy remains a mystery. Slips is convinced it’s hidden in a safe deposit box under his father’s alias and reunites his old crew—Waldorf (Terry Stone), Prozac (Sam Gittins), and Fisherman (Ricky London)—to execute what they believe will be their final heist.
Directed by Coz Greenop and written by Michael Head and Lucinda Royden, the film avoids a conventional bank robbery plot. Instead, it picks up six months after the heist, as the crew gathers to divide the loot and uncover why the plan went awry. Through flashbacks, viewers piece together the robbery and glimpse moments like a young Slips witnessing his father brutally punishing a thief.
The first hour of “The Last Heist” feels more like a series of grim vignettes about London’s criminal underworld than a linear heist story. While there is action and violence, it’s interspersed with dialogue-heavy scenes, creating a layered narrative that delves into both the heist and the characters’ lives.
