Description: In the era of dinosaurs, a severe famine drives multiple dinosaur herds to search for a sanctuary called the Great Valley. Among them, a mother from a dwindling “longneck” herd gives birth to a baby named Littlefoot. Years later, Littlefoot meets Cera, a “three-horn,” but their friendship is discouraged by their parents, who believe dinosaurs should only associate with their own kind.
One night, while following a “hopper,” Littlefoot reunites with Cera, and they briefly play together until a dangerous “Sharptooth” attacks them. Littlefoot’s mother rescues them but suffers fatal injuries. An earthquake then separates Littlefoot, Cera, and other dinosaurs from their herds, resulting in numerous casualties, including Littlefoot’s mother. Before her death, she advises Littlefoot to let his heart guide him to the Great Valley.
Lost and grieving, Littlefoot encounters an old “clubtail” named Rooter, who comforts him. Guided by his mother’s voice, Littlefoot sets out on a journey to the Great Valley, passing landmarks like a Longneck-shaped rock and the “Mountains that Burn.” Along the way, he meets new companions: Ducky, a “bigmouth,” and Petrie, a “flyer.”
Meanwhile, Cera accidentally awakens the Sharptooth while searching for her herd. She escapes and warns Littlefoot, Ducky, and Petrie about the Sharptooth’s pursuit. During their journey, they discover a hatching “spiketail,” whom Ducky names Spike and welcomes into the group. Together, they continue their quest to the Great Valley, facing challenges and dwindling resources along the way.
