Description: The King’s Daughter, released in 2022, is an American action-adventure fantasy film directed by Sean McNamara. The screenplay, written by Barry Berman and James Schamus, is based on Vonda N. McIntyre’s 1997 novel *The Moon and the Sun*. The story revolves around King Louis XIV, portrayed by Pierce Brosnan, whose pursuit of immortality leads him to capture a mermaid and steal her life force. This plan becomes complicated when his illegitimate daughter discovers the mysterious creature.
The film features Kaya Scodelario as Marie-Josèphe and Benjamin Walker as Yves De La Croix. Principal photography began in April 2014, with filming taking place in Versailles, France, and later in Melbourne, Australia. However, producer Bill Mechanic revived the film with Walt Disney Pictures in 2001.
