StoryLine:
On Christmas Eve, Santa Claus visits a pub in Bristol and expresses sadness over how children have become increasingly materialistic in a world where many doubt his existence. After drinking, he flies off in his sleigh but accidentally vomits on the barwoman.
In Greenwich, Connecticut, Jason Lightstone arrives at his mother Gertrude’s mansion with his estranged wife Linda and their daughter Trudy to celebrate Christmas. They are joined by Jason’s alcoholic sister Alva, her boyfriend Morgan Steel, an aspiring action star, and Alva’s son Bertrude, an online streamer. Trudy finds an old walkie-talkie and uses it to “talk to Santa,” revealing her only wish—for her family to reunite.
Meanwhile, Santa, while delivering gifts, stumbles upon the Lightstone estate. The caterers there turn out to be mercenaries with Christmas-themed codenames, led by a man called Mr. Scrooge. They kill the staff and take the family hostage.
Santa is discovered by one of the henchmen, whose gunfire scares away his reindeer. A fight ensues, and Santa defeats the henchman by throwing him out of a window. Stranded, Santa decides to rescue Trudy and her family. Mr. Scrooge demands access to the mansion’s vault, which contains $300 million in cash.
Using a radio taken from a dead henchman, Santa communicates with Trudy and learns that the mercenaries are on his magical naughty list. When Trudy’s walkie-talkie is discovered, Jason convinces the captors she’s just playing make-believe and declares Santa isn’t real, causing Trudy to hide in the attic.
Santa reassures Trudy over the radio, revealing his past as Nikamund the Red, a ruthless Viking warrior, and shares his love for Mrs. Claus, whom he has been married to for 1,100 years. Meanwhile, Mr. Scrooge’s lead henchman, Krampus, forces the family to present their gifts to Gertrude, who is surprised by a card from Jason.
