Description: “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” (2013) follows Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark as they return to District 12 after winning the 74th Hunger Games. Despite their material comfort, they face emotional turmoil. President Snow visits Katniss, warning her that her defiance during the Games has sparked uprisings across Panem. He demands she use the Victory Tour to prove her actions were driven by love, not rebellion, threatening the safety of her loved ones if she fails.
During the Victory Tour, unrest and protests grow, met with harsh retaliation by Peacekeepers. To calm the districts, Katniss and Peeta announce their engagement. At a Capitol celebration, Snow subtly hints his doubts remain. Katniss meets Plutarch Heavensbee, the new head Gamemaker, as District 12 faces brutal raids. Gale is whipped by Peacekeepers but saved by Katniss and the victors. Heavensbee advises Snow that Katniss’ victor status fuels rebellion.
The 75th Hunger Games, a “Quarter Quell,” is announced, with tributes chosen from past victors. Katniss focuses on protecting Peeta. On Reaping Day, Haymitch is selected, but Peeta volunteers to take his place. The tributes, accustomed to safety, express anger at being forced back into the deadly arena. The story builds tension as Katniss prepares for the challenges ahead.
