Description: “The Guilty” (2018) is a gripping Danish thriller that revolves around Asger Holm, a police officer in Copenhagen awaiting a hearing for his involvement in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man. Temporarily assigned to the Emergency East desk to handle emergency calls, Asger’s life takes a tense turn the night before his hearing.
He receives a cryptic call from Iben Østergård, a woman who pretends to be speaking to a child, hinting at her abduction without explicitly stating it. Asger deduces she is in danger and discovers she is being held in a white van. With limited information, he tries to coordinate with the North Zealand police station to locate the vehicle, but the lack of specific details makes it difficult to track.
Asger’s determination leads him to uncover more about Iben’s life. He contacts her six-year-old daughter, Mathilde, and learns that Iben’s estranged husband, Michael Berg, who owns a white van, forcibly took Iben earlier that day.
