**Storyline:**
James Reid, the publisher of the *Daily Sentinel*, shares a strained relationship with his playboy son, Britt. This tension remains unresolved until James passes away from what appears to be an allergic reaction to a bee sting. Following his father’s funeral, Britt fires most of the staff but later rehires Kato, a skilled mechanic and martial artist, as his assistant. The two quickly form a strong bond and, after a night of drinking, visit the graveyard to vandalize James’ memorial statue, expressing their shared disdain for him.
During their outing, Britt witnesses a mugging and attempts to intervene but is overpowered. Kato steps in to rescue him, but the police mistake the duo for criminals, leading to a car chase as they escape back to their mansion. Inspired by the incident, Britt convinces Kato to become crime fighters. Kato modifies an Imperial car, equipping it with advanced gadgets and weapons, which they name the “Black Beauty.”
Britt sets his sights on Benjamin Chudnofsky, a Russian mobster who has united the crime families of Los Angeles under his command and later adopts the alias “Bloodnofsky.” To draw Chudnofsky’s attention, Britt uses the *Daily Sentinel* to publish articles about his alter ego, “The Green Hornet.”
Britt hires Lenore Case as his researcher, utilizing her expertise to elevate the Hornet’s public image. Together with Kato, they target Chudnofsky’s operations, destroying several meth labs and leaving behind their calling cards. Meanwhile, District Attorney Frank Scanlon grows increasingly frustrated as the public begins to doubt his ability to stop the Hornet.
Britt’s romantic advances toward Lenore are rejected, and she instead invites Kato out, sparking jealousy in Britt. From Lenore, Kato learns that mobsters often use peace summits to eliminate their rivals. Despite Kato’s warnings, Britt agrees to attend such a meeting with Chudnofsky, leading to a deadly encounter. Fortunately, Kato’s quick thinking and skills save them, allowing them to escape the trap.
