Description: “The Green Butchers,” a 2003 Danish film, follows the story of two men, Svend and Bjarne, who open a butcher shop together. The film begins with Svend barbecuing while his fiancée, Tina, annoys him about the food. Bjarne, who dislikes Tina’s flirtatious co-worker, Beate, ends up upsetting her until she leaves in tears. Later, Svend and Bjarne, frustrated with their current butcher, Holger, decide to start their own shop. Svend purchases a closed butcher shop with the help of a realtor, while Bjarne, dealing with his brother Eigil’s life support situation, decides to have him taken off the machines to access the inheritance money.
As the two prepare for their new business, they accidentally lock an electrician in the meat freezer. When Holger mocks their lack of customers, Svend serves him the electrician’s leg, marinated in his special sauce. Surprisingly, the dish becomes a hit, attracting a crowd to their shop. Despite Bjarne’s reluctance, they continue selling human meat to meet the demand.
Meanwhile, as their business thrives, Bjarne’s brother, Eigil, unexpectedly wakes up after being taken off life support. The film blends dark humor and satire, exploring themes of ambition, morality, and the consequences of desperate actions.
