Description: “The Girl in the Fog” is a 2017 thriller set in the remote Italian Alps town of Avechot. The story follows the disappearance of Anna Lou, a 16-year-old girl, and the investigation led by a renowned expert, Vogel. Known for turning cases into media sensations, Vogel quickly focuses on Loris Martini, a charismatic but debt-ridden local schoolteacher, who becomes the prime suspect. The media frenzy intensifies, painting Martini as the likely culprit.
However, the investigation takes a twist when it’s uncovered that Vogel fabricated evidence, falsely implicating Martini. Once exonerated, Martini receives €1 million in compensation. A journalist later suggests that the crime could be linked to a notorious past serial killer, referred to as the “Man of the Fog.” The shocking truth is eventually revealed: Martini did kill Anna Lou, mimicking the style of the infamous serial killer. He cleverly planted misleading clues to provoke Vogel into framing him, drawing parallels to a previous high-profile case. Martini’s plan was to sue the police for wrongful accusation, securing the compensation.
In a dramatic conclusion, Vogel murders Martini to prevent him from benefiting from his crime. A final twist unveils that Dr. Flores, a key figure in the story, is actually the “Man of the Fog.”
The film, which was released theatrically, is expected to be available on DVD and Blu-ray around January 2018, typically 12-16 weeks after its cinema debut.
