**Storyline:**
In 1988, Katie and Kristi witness a terrifying event as Dennis is crushed by a mysterious force. Their grandmother, Lois, takes them upstairs while the entity follows, capturing the scene on camera. A mysterious man speaks to the girls about “Toby” and their significance in his plans.
Twenty-five years later in 2013, Ryan Fleege, his wife Emily, and their six-year-old daughter Leila prepare to celebrate Christmas. Ryan’s brother, Mike, moves in after a breakup. Skylar, a family friend, notices Leila talking to an imaginary friend named Toby. Mike discovers a box of old video tapes from 1988 to 1992 and a vintage camera. The tapes reveal young Kristi and Katie with their mother Julie and her boyfriend Dennis, as well as footage from 1992 showing the girls practicing supernatural abilities with the mysterious man. Ryan and Mike realize the girls in the tapes can foresee their actions while watching the videos.
Leila’s interactions with Toby intensify as Ryan uses the old camera, which begins capturing spiritual entities. Determined to uncover the strange occurrences, Ryan sets up overnight recordings. One night, a dark figure emerges from the ground and hovers over Leila, who eventually communicates with it. Soon after, Skylar is attacked by the spirit. When Ryan tapes Leila sleeping, a demonic force appears, forcing him to drop the camera.
The next day, Ryan and Emily discover a concrete slab etched with Katie, Kristi, and the year 1987. They realize their house is built on the same property where Katie and Kristi once lived before it burned down in 1992. The family learns that grown-up Katie sold the house, constructed by a coven of witches known as The Midwives.
