**Storyline:**
A man’s car is struck by a stranger, who kills him when he gets out to document the damage for an insurance claim. Detective Jung Tae-suk, an honest cop, investigates the crime scene and suspects the involvement of a serial killer. However, his superior dismisses his theory.
Meanwhile, gangster Jang Dong-soo is returning home after a meeting when the same killer targets him. After a violent altercation, both are injured, and the killer escapes by running Dong-soo over with his car. Hospitalized, Dong-soo’s associates initially blame a rival gang but he believes the attack was random and unrelated to gang disputes.
Tae-suk approaches Dong-soo in the hospital, urging him to cooperate in capturing the killer. Dong-soo refuses, instead instructing his men to locate the killer independently. They eventually find the killer’s car and a knife. Dong-soo shares this information with Tae-suk, and the two form an uneasy alliance. Their agreement is simple: whoever captures the killer first gets to decide his fate. Dong-soo seeks revenge, while Tae-suk aims to solve five linked murders and earn a promotion.
As the hunt intensifies, Dong-soo orders his right-hand man, Kwon Oh-sung, to kill a rival, Heo Sang-do, using the killer’s knife. This act enrages Tae-suk, who confronts Dong-soo upon realizing the evidence linking the knife to the serial killer has been compromised. The case is now at risk of being transferred to the Major Case Squad.
At Sang-do’s funeral, the killer appears and reveals to Sang-do’s second-in-command that Dong-soo was the one who killed Sang-do using the killer’s knife. The tension between Dong-soo, Tae-suk, and the murderer escalates as their fates intertwine in a dangerous game of vengeance and justice.
