Description: Mafia boss Giovanni Manzoni, who has angered rival mafia leader Don Lucchese, survives an assassination attempt along with his family during a barbecue. In retaliation, Giovanni betrays Lucchese, leading to his imprisonment. Giovanni and his family are placed under the FBI’s witness protection program, supervised by Agent Robert Stansfield. They are relocated multiple times, eventually settling in a small Normandy village.
As they adjust to their new life, each family member faces their own challenges. Two FBI agents monitor them for safety. Giovanni pretends to be an author writing a historical novel about the Normandy landings, which proves difficult since locals are far more knowledgeable about the event. He investigates the brown water issue in his house, confronting and assaulting a plumber attempting unnecessary repairs and the local fertilizer factory owner responsible for the contamination.
His daughter, Belle, develops feelings for Henri, a college student working as a substitute math teacher. She requests private lessons to spend time with him and seduce him. Giovanni’s wife, Maggie, reacts violently to anti-American remarks by blowing up a small grocery store. She often visits the undercover FBI agents and spends time at the church, forming a friendly bond with the local priest. However, their relationship ends when she confesses her family’s crimes, prompting the priest to ban her from returning.
On his first day at the local school, their son, Warren, is bullied by a group of students. He retaliates by establishing his own mini-mafia within the school, turning the tables on his bullies. Unintentionally, Warren reveals their location to Don Lucchese by quoting one of the kingpin’s sayings in a school paper that eventually reaches Lucchese by chance.
