Storyline:
Cousins Bo, Luke, and Daisy Duke manage a moonshine business for their Uncle Jesse in Hazzard County, Georgia. Their iconic mode of transportation is a bright orange 1969 Dodge Charger, fondly called the “General Lee.” The family faces constant harassment from corrupt county commissioner Jefferson Davis Hogg, known as “Boss Hogg,” and his bumbling henchman, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane.
When Rosco impounds the General Lee after Bo and Luke try to escape a moonshine customer’s daughter, famous stock-car driver Billy Prickett arrives in Hazzard for a rally. Meanwhile, Rosco plants a fake moonshine still in Uncle Jesse’s barn and seizes the Duke property under the guise of eminent domain for Boss Hogg. This forces the Dukes to stay with Pauline, Uncle Jesse’s love interest and neighbor.
Pauline reveals that Rosco has seized another farm under false charges, prompting Bo and Luke to investigate a local construction site. With the help of bait-shop owner Sheev, they uncover geologic core samples. Simultaneously, Rosco attempts to take the General Lee as “evidence” from their friend Cooter Davenport’s auto body shop. Instead, Cooter transforms the car into a hot rod with a fresh paint job and horn, finally getting paid for his past work.
After reclaiming the General Lee, the Dukes head to Atlanta to visit a university geology lab. There, they meet Hazzard native Katie-Lynn Johnson, the Duke boys’ love interest, and her Australian roommate Annette. At the lab, they uncover Boss Hogg’s plan to turn the county into a strip coal mine. However, their investigation leads to their arrest by the Atlanta Police Department after fleeing campus security.
