**Storyline:**
The day before her wedding, Reshma (Vidya Balan) flees her rural village with dreams of stardom in Chennai. After failing to impress a casting director, who insults her for lacking beauty and acting skills, she auditions as a background dancer. Her sultry and erotic dance style annoys the film’s director, Abraham (Emraan Hashmi), who cuts her scene entirely. When the film flops at the box office, producer Selva Ganesh (Rajesh Sharma) remembers Reshma’s performance and offers her a role in an upcoming song. He suggests she adopt the stage name “Silk” to make her more exotic and appealing.
At her first shoot, Silk dances with veteran actor Suryakanth (Naseeruddin Shah), whom she idolizes. She wins his affection by offering a long-term sexual relationship.
