**Storyline:**
In 1920s Copenhagen, Gerda Wegener, a portrait artist, asks her husband, Einar Wegener, a renowned landscape painter, to substitute for a late female model. As Einar poses in female attire, he begins to uncover his long-suppressed female identity, eventually embracing the name Lili Elbe.
