**Storyline:**
In the town of Ipswich, four high school boys—Caleb Danvers, Pogue Parry, Reid Garwin, and Tyler Simms—are known as the Sons of Ipswich. They are descendants of colonial witch families and possess magical abilities. Their powers emerge on their 13th birthday and grow stronger until they Ascend at 18. Ascension significantly enhances their powers but ties them to their life force. Excessive use of magic can lead to addiction, premature aging, and even death.
During a bonfire, Caleb meets Sarah Wenham, a transfer student from Boston. The group also encounters Chase Collins, a new student at Spencer Academy. Their meeting is interrupted when police arrive to break up the party. The boys escape using their powers. After a student is found dead near the campus, strange paranormal events unfold, focusing on Sarah and her roommate, Kate Tunney. Suspicious of Reid, the most reckless of the warlocks, Caleb confronts him, but Reid denies any involvement.
