Description: In 2028, Earth faces a severe global energy crisis. Space agencies prepare to test the Shepard particle accelerator aboard the Cloverfield Station in orbit, hoping to provide Earth with unlimited energy. However, conspiracy theorists warn of the “Cloverfield Paradox,” fearing it could open portals to parallel universes, unleashing unknown horrors. Among the crew is Ava Hamilton, a British engineer troubled by leaving her husband Michael behind, as their strained relationship stems from the tragic loss of their children in a house fire. The team includes American commander Kiel, German physicist Ernst Schmidt, Brazilian doctor Monk Acosta, Irish engineer Mundy, Russian engineer Volkov, and Chinese engineer Tam.
After two years of failed attempts, the crew finally achieves a stable beam with the Shepard, but it overloads, causing a power surge. Once basic power is restored, they discover Earth has disappeared from view, and the station’s gyroscope, crucial for navigation, is missing. As repairs begin, strange occurrences unfold: a woman named Mina Jensen is found fused into a wall, Volkov’s eyes move uncontrollably, and he starts conversing with his reflection before crafting a gun. He threatens the crew but dies convulsing, with worms bursting from his body.
Jensen warns Hamilton not to trust Schmidt, accusing him of being a spy sent to sabotage the Shepard. Mundy’s arm is severed cleanly after being pulled into a wall, yet it moves independently and instructs the crew to “cut Volkov open.” Inside his body, they find the missing gyroscope.
