**Storyline:**
Set in the 13th-century Carpathian Mountains of Romania, an Eastern Orthodox abbey and its inhabitants are destroyed by a landslide. Centuries later, during the Cold War era, a group of Soviet and British treasure hunters seeks the lost abbey. They uncover that the site lies above a vast cave system, sealed by an intricate mosaic floor. Attempting to blast their way in, they trigger another landslide, burying the abbey and trapping themselves in the caverns. Desperate to escape, they venture deeper into the cave, haunted by eerie sounds in the darkness.
In the present day, a new team led by Dr. Nicolai, along with Dr. Kathryn Jennings and cameraman Alex Kim, investigates the site and the mythology of winged demons depicted in the abbey’s mosaic. Local biologists suspect the cave may harbor an undiscovered ecosystem, prompting them to hire a group of American spelunkers. The team, led by brothers Jack and Tyler McAllister, includes professional climbers, sonar experts, and survivalists. Equipped with advanced diving gear, they descend into the cave, where they face unexpected dangers.
As they explore, the team discovers evidence of a mysterious parasite infecting the cave’s lifeforms. Dr. Jennings theorizes that this parasite, unlike known species, evolved entirely within the cave and remains isolated from the outside world. The explorers soon encounter remnants of previous adventurers and realize they are not alone—they are being hunted by unknown creatures lurking in the shadows. The film follows their harrowing struggle to survive and escape the deadly depths of the cave.”
