Description: In 2013, the movie *The Call* follows the story of Jordan Turner, a seasoned 9-1-1 operator with the Los Angeles Police Department. One night, she receives a call from a teenage girl, Leah Templeton, who is terrified as a man breaks into her home. Jordan calmly advises Leah to hide upstairs, but when the call disconnects, Jordan calls back, unknowingly revealing Leah’s location to the intruder. Despite Jordan’s attempts to stop him, the man coldly responds, “It’s already done,” and hangs up. The next day, Jordan learns that Leah has been murdered, leaving her emotionally shattered. Overwhelmed by guilt, she steps away from field calls and becomes a trainer for 9-1-1 operators.
Six months later, another crisis unfolds when teenager Casey Welson is abducted from a mall parking garage by a man named Michael Foster. Forced into the trunk of his car, Casey uses a disposable phone to call 9-1-1. A rookie operator struggles to handle the situation, prompting Jordan to take over. However, the disposable phone’s limited capabilities make it difficult to pinpoint Casey’s exact location. Jordan guides Casey to knock out a taillight and signal for help, which eventually alerts a passerby to call 9-1-1. This new call provides crucial information, narrowing the police’s search. When Casey reveals there are paint cans in the trunk, Jordan instructs her to pour the paint out of the taillight hole to attract attention. While this tactic works, Michael brutally attacks another motorist who notices the disturbance, leaving the situation even more dire.
