Genre: Comedy;Drama;Romance
Description: In Seattle, Enzo, an elderly Golden Retriever nearing the end of his life, awaits the return of his beloved owner and best friend, Denny. When Denny arrives to find Enzo immobile, the dog begins to recount his life story.
Years earlier, Denny decides to bring home a puppy, naming him Enzo after Enzo Ferrari. The two quickly form an unbreakable bond. Denny splits his time between teaching auto racing, pursuing his own racing career, and caring for Enzo. A year later, Denny meets Eve at a grocery store, and they soon start dating. They marry the following year, though Eve’s father, Maxwell, disapproves of Denny’s racing profession. Eve becomes pregnant, and on Christmas Day, Denny receives an invitation to compete in the 24 Hours of Daytona. Unfortunately, the race coincides with Eve’s due date, and Denny misses the birth of their daughter, Zoë, while racing in Florida.
As the years pass, Enzo enjoys a peaceful family life, though Denny is often away for racing events. However, Eve begins to fall seriously ill. Enzo detects a strange odor emanating from her, and she is later diagnosed with brain cancer. During her treatment, Eve and Zoë stay with her parents. Eve eventually accepts her fate, confiding in Enzo that she is no longer afraid of death. She passes away with Enzo by her side.
Maxwell blames Denny’s absence for Eve’s illness and demands custody of Zoë, threatening to sue Denny if he refuses. A heated confrontation ensues, resulting in Maxwell falling and breaking a rib. He reports the incident, leading to Denny’s arrest for 4th-degree assault. If Denny loses the legal battle, he faces a three-month jail sentence and the potential loss of custody of his daughter.
