He wasn’t much of a man… Now he’s not much of an animal!|Jun. 01, 2001|USA|84 Min.|PG-13
Genre: Comedy
Description: In the town of Elkerton, Marvin Mange is an awkward and clumsy man who dreams of becoming a police officer like his father. Despite his efforts, he consistently fails the physical test required for the role and faces mistreatment from Sergeant Doug Sisk. Marvin works as an evidence clerk at the police station and befriends Miles, an airport security guard who experiences “reverse racism,” and a fellow cadet named Fatty.
One day, while alone at the station, Marvin responds to a robbery call from a restaurant. During the pursuit, he drives off the road and tumbles down a mountain, with a boulder crashing onto his car. Days later, Marvin returns to his normal life with no memory of the incident. However, he begins to exhibit unusual abilities—he can outrun horses, scare aggressive dogs, catch frisbees with his mouth, and no longer needs his asthma medication. Marvin attributes these changes to his consumption of “Badger Milk,” advertised to enhance strength.
At the airport, Marvin confides in Miles about his strange experiences. While there, he uses his heightened senses to detect a man smuggling heroin, earning him praise and an official promotion to police officer by Chief Marion Wilson.
Despite his newfound success, Marvin often wakes up in odd locations and hears reports of animal attacks occurring overnight. Dr. Wilder, a scientist, reveals that Marvin’s life was saved through grafts and transplants, which granted him animal-like powers. Wilder advises Marvin on managing his impulsive animal urges, which often lead to embarrassing public behavior.
Marvin’s abilities help him excel as a police officer, and he is partnered with Sergeant Sisk. Along the way, he even secures a date with Rianna, an environmental protester he admires. However, Marvin must navigate the challenges of his dual nature while continuing his duties as a law enforcement officer.
